Thank You For Your Generosity! Thanks to all the supporters of the Karma & Jyamu Bhotia Foundation. Your generosity at two May Durango events is greatly appreciated by the Karma & Jyamu Bhotia Foundation and the people of earthquake-ravaged Nepal. The May 14th event, “A Night for Nepal” for victims of the Nepali earthquakes netted $15,000 from the Himalayan Kitchen diners. Many other Durango restaurants and shops also supported this benefit. The May 27th fundraiser at the Durango Arts Center, that included silent and live auctions and the screening of “Good Karma”, a documentary of Karma’s 2014 return to Karma and Jyamu's home village of Chyamtang, Nepal, raised $20,000 for the charitable projects of the Bhotia Foundation and for Nepal earthquake relief. Nepal earthquake relief donations have already provided building materials for 61 semi-permanent dwellings, 10 toilets and new water lines for victims of the earthquakes in Khare DVC, Dolakha District located northeast of Kathmandu, Nepal. The village of Khare lies in a steep, narrow valley of the Himalayas and was completely destroyed by the April 25, 2015 earthquake. The building materials and supplies were transported 9 hours by bus and 12 hours by porters on foot to reach the remote site. The temporary structures will provide welcome respite to the residents of Khare from the upcoming monsoon season. These temporary structures will last for 3 to 5 years until the tin roofs and other building materials can be reused to build permanent homes for the earthquake victims. The Karma & Jyamu Bhotia Foundation is a qualified 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation. Donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. The Karma & Jyamu Bhotia Foundation is committed to applying each dollar donated directly to its charitable activities by utilizing an all-volunteer, non-paid staff and maintaining its operating expenses at the lowest level possible. Namaste! Karma and Jyamu Bhotia Tax I.D.# 46-4266938
